SAILING AWAY IN THE DAYDREAMS

Omar Tarazi is a Syrian expressionist artist based in the Chicago region. As a poet narrates poem, a musician composes tracks, Omar uses his camera to express the same feelings of poem and song.  He always seeks to depict moments of freedom, solitude and fate.

Omar defines beauty in unlikely places and in the parts rather than the whole. Whereas someone may photograph a forest full of trees, Omar photographs a leaf and its shadows.

His point of view in photography is unlimited; it spans the terrestrial and celestial – those lowest on the ground and those that soar above it.

Omar shatters the whole scene into small pieces to recreate his own, forming a version of infinite compositions.
As he believes in the surrealist idea that art should come from the unconscious mind, his work is considered a new style of Abstract Expressionism. He uses his camera as a brush to create his own color and light.

Between abstraction and expression, he motivates the viewers and guides them beyond the frame. The composition becomes the medium between the photographer and the viewer. Through this medium, Omar deeply connects with the viewer as he manifests in his own work.
